This 30 minute film portrays Girald’s daily life as an activist in Mombasa, where she lives and works, and her return to the hometown from which she was disowned by her own family.

This is a story of survival, love, human complexity and the rise of LBQ women in the fight for their own rights in Kenya at a key moment.

Now You Are a Woman is an independent project partly funded by the Dev Reporter EU fund, for journalists and NGOs.

Casal Lambda is the NGO producing and supporting this project. It has been working towards normalising homosexuality since 1976, and is one of the oldest LGBTI organisation in Spain.
